Job Description

Electrical Federal Credit Union is currently seeking a full-time teller to join our team. The teller will perform a variety of member transactions while also providing excellent service and ensuring accurate and efficient service to members in conformance with the established policies and procedures of Electrical Federal Credit Union.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Greet and welcome members to the credit union in a courteous, professional, and timely manner, providing prompt, accurate, and efficient member transactions in-person, email, online banking and over the phone to the membership.

  • Receive share drafts/checks and cash for deposit to accounts, verify amounts, examine share drafts/checks for proper endorsement, and enter deposits into computer records. Place hold on accounts/deposits for uncollected funds.
     

  • Process withdrawals from accounts and/or share draft/check cashing, verify amounts, and enter withdrawals into system accurately. Cash share drafts/checks from a variety of accounts except IRA accounts upon proper verification according to credit union policies and procedures.
     

  • Receive mortgage, consumer loan, and other payments, and ensure the payments match balances due. Enter payments into computer. Generate member receipts.
     

  • Issue money orders, bank check drafts, cashier’s checks, visa cash advances and gift cards.
     

  • Assist with mail, email transactions or online/telephone banking.
     

  • Completes all required Bank Secrecy Act documentation (CTR, SAR) as needed during the course of any cash transaction.
     

  • Maintain an up‐to‐date comprehensive knowledge on all credit union products and services that are handled or promoted by tellers. Maintain an up‐to‐date and comprehensive knowledge on all related policies and procedures, rules, and regulations for the teller area, including robbery procedures.
     

  • Promote, explain, and cross‐sell other credit union services such as consumer loans and mortgage loans, IRAs, certificates, debit and credit cards, on‐line banking, money orders, processes check orders as needed and other promotional products where available.
     

  • Balance cash drawer at the end of the shift and compare totaled amounts to computer generated proof sheet. Research and resolve discrepancies. Report any discrepancies to the supervisor as necessary. May help other tellers research and resolve discrepancies.
     

  • Ensure that the teller station is properly stocked with forms, supplies, brochures, etc.
     

  • Acts as backup for the front desk with opening new membership accounts as needed. Ensures that all OFAC checks and additional due diligence is completed for all new accounts that are processed.
     

Other Duties:

  • Assists in the Credit Union’s security by monitoring activity in the Credit Union lobby.

  • Provides coverage for other non-exempt positions in the Credit Union as needed.

  • Assists in the execution of the Credit Union’s annual membership meeting and other functions as needed.

  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the MSR Manager or President/CEO.
     

Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.

  • Previous teller experience or cash handling experience is highly desired.

  • Computer experience is extremely helpful.

Work Environment:

The Credit Union Teller works in an indoor office and spends the majority of their time seated at the teller line. There may be prolonged periods of standing during transactions. Occasional lifting of 35-40 lbs. may be required. Normal 40-hour work weeks are required, but occasional overtime may be assigned.
